Welcome and thank you for visiting our web page.

Florida Task Force Two (FL-TF2) began serving affected communities during times of disaster in 1991, and we have had the opportunity to respond and assist those in need during some of the most devastating events recognized throughout the world. Our deployments to national and international disasters include the events of September 11th, 2001 in New York, 2010 Haiti, and 2020 Puerto Rico Haiti Earthquake, as well as the 2021 Surfside Champlain Tower Collapse.

When FL-TF2 is activated and requested to respond. Our Task Force will be on its way with 80 of its highly trained members, along with thousands of dollars worth of specialized tools and equipment to assist any community in need. We are always prepared and ready to take on any challenges that may lie ahead by applying the experience and knowledge gained towards strengthening our Task Force. The only substitute for experience is Training. This is why we constantly look for better ways to train, along with applying real-world experiences to our training.

Each Task Force member is required to participate in a specified amount of training every year. The amount of training hours the entire Task Force accrues each year is in the thousands. This specialized training prepares each team member on how to provide disaster aid in the most efficient and safest way possible. On a normal day, these highly trained individuals are career teachers, nurses, physicians, firefighters, engineers, etc.

The City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue is the Sponsoring Agency of our Task Force and is responsible for all command, control, and administrative support functions.

FL-TF2 is comprised of approximately 230 members, throughout 23 Supporting Agencies, that are broken down into the following disciplines:

· Search
· Rescue
· Logistics
· Communications
· Planning
· Medical
· Hazardous Materials Specialists
· Engineers
· Canine Handlers
· Flood and Swift Water Specialists

When I was selected as the new Program Manager of this highly regarded team, I was extremely humbled and honored. This team continues to impress me daily with their level of commitment, expertise, and willingness to accept any challenge that is placed in front of them. Having team members such as these is why I believe we are amongst the best in the nation, and I will always stand beside them.

Please continue to peruse through our website for the most current information on our events and history.

Respectfully,

Erik Sanchez, Fire Captain
